About the material called Corian®

Corian® is an artificial marble developed by DuPont. Artificial marble is a material often used as architectural materials, for walls and floors, as well as countertops in kitchens and powder rooms. Among the many artificial marbles in the world, Corian® can be said to be a long-life material, including not only expressions like natural marble, but also colors and designs demanded by architects and designers, as well as processability, functionality, durability suitable for living spaces.

At SASAKI, we adopted this Corian® in order to take on a new challenge of product development other than wood.

Because it is an architectural material, it can be processed with woodworking machines, and it has seen the potential to expand the breadth of SASAKI's creation with a new expression different from wood. It was a major challenge for product development that could not be achieved with wood, considering the characteristics and textures of the material, such as resistance to water and heat. Although the characteristics of the material have many difficulties different from familiar woodworking, the products that were born from there also expanded the new field of SASAKI's creation. In this supernova, we are committed to eco and ethical creation that does not end with mere product development, with the cooperation of manufacturers who supply and process Corian®, such as DuPont MCC and ABC Trading Company.
