 What Supernova considers ethical

Supernova is a brand that utilizes offcuts of Corian® from various manufacturers. Corian® is an artificial marble produced by DuPont, and because it is primarily used as a building material, larger offcuts are produced than in furniture making. An easy-to-understand image is the powder rooms and kitchens of apartments or hotels. The countertops are artificial marble, but the sink parts are cut out in the same shape for all rooms. In this process, many offcuts of the same shape are produced. Also, while artificial marble is a high-quality and long-life material, it is obligated to be treated as industrial waste when discarded because it is a resin product.
When considering this issue, SASAKI, which started by taking advantage of wood offcuts with creative ideas, decided to simply convey an ethical stance that we think is a unique approach.

Will people ever throw away a material called resin? Even if the day comes when it is discarded, it is in the far future. Then, should we consume a large amount of cost and energy resources such as transportation to recycle it? However, we are manufacturers and have been a processing manufacturer that has been promoting the use of offcuts since the old days. When comparing the technology cultivated in offcut processing with the environmental awareness that is currently demanded in the world, we thought that one of the simplest solutions was to use as much as possible to the end, make products that can be used for a long time from high-quality materials, and create designs that evoke attachment with designers. That message itself is the brand called supernova and our way of thinking.

By continuing the activity called supernova, we aim to expand with the cooperation of people who have no choice but to produce offcuts on site and other processing manufacturers.
